Changing the base of logarithms

Suppose logdx = l and we want to convert to base b.

Then dl=x

Let logbd = q so bq=d

Substituting for d, (bq)l = x = bql

So logbx = ql

You can think of this in a couple of ways, which should be memorable. -mathformula not MarkupType-
