Low carbon food
Calculating the amount of carbon released in the production of various foodstuffs is extraordinarily difficult. The carbon cost of animal feed must be considered, as well as the cost of fertiliser to grow that feed, if any, and the cost of the food miles to get it to the consumer.
For animals the general rule is that the larger the animal the higher the carbon cost per kilo.
