Remembering the trig functions

This mnemonic helps you to remember the trigonometric functions.

First remember the names of the sides: hypotenuse (the slanting one), adjacent (which is adjacent to or next to the angle) and opposite (which is opposite the angle).

SOHCAHTOA

This is read as Sin = Opp/Hyp, Cosine = Adj / Hyp, Tan = Opp / Adj.

If you are too tired to manipulate the symbols, you can also read each triplet backwards:
Hyp = Opp/Sin, Hyp = Adj / Cos, Adj = Opp / Tan.

The sides of the triangle are on the diagram. -diagram not MarkupType-
