Steady speed freaks
Have you ever been driving through the countryside at 60 mph, at the limit, and come up behind someone driving steadily at 40 mph?
If the road doesn’t allow for overtaking, because of bends or traffic coming the other way, I just settle down, take a deep breath, and ease back on the speed to allow a decent gap. After all, not everyone wants to go fast and there is no minimum speed limit. Perhaps the driver isn’t confident enough to go faster. Perhaps he doesn’t feel safe at 60mph. Such people deserve sympathetic consideration.
Then we get to a village with a 30mph limit and he just keeps on going at 40! All my sympathy immediately evaporates. He’s oblivious to the risk he is now posing to pedestrians, cats, and other road users in this village. He just wants to please himself.
