Tidal energy generation
Date Created: 2024/03/27
There are two forms - tidal stream energy and tidal barrages.
A barrage is a dam across, for example, an estuary, with turbines embedded in it. It works best if there is a large tidal range. They get energy from the difference in height between the two sides as the tide goes in and out. The main problem is that such projects have a huge impact on wildlife and also shipping.
Tidal energy comes ultimately from the Earth’s rotation energy. It will last a very long time.
